Productivity In The Workplace
We all know the famous saying, “time is money”, but the reality is that we’re living in a busy world. With the way we work changing, including the growing trend of employees working from home. As a result, we’re often walking a fine line between work and life, making time a scarce resource. Another major change is the technology that can make our lives easier with countless productivity apps available. These apps allow us to get on top of our workload so that we have more time to do the things that we love. In honour of Labour Day, we have created a list of productivity apps that we use regularly to save time and improve productivity!
Lastpass
Have you spent hours trying to find and reset passwords? What a time waster! To avoid this painful situation, we use the Lastpass app. Lastpass can be installed as an extension on desktop devices and/or as an app on mobile devices. Once set-up, users can add their passwords that will be automatically filled once uploaded. The app is great if you work across multiple devices that use different password saving software.
Lastpass is free, but they are changing their policy on the 16th of March 2021. The new policy will only let users log in on one type of device (i.e. computers or mobile devices). Alternatively, there is a premium version that costs $AU4.50 a month for multi-device password sharing and 1GB of encrypted file storage. There is also a family model available.
Grammarly
Never underestimate the power of good grammar! However, it takes time going through your work, not to mention the potential for embarrassing mistakes! Grammarly takes the guesswork out of grammar, with three versions available to suit your needs:
Free
- Spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Premium ($11.66/month on an annual plan)
- Clarity-focused sentence rewrites, tone adjustments, plagiarism detection, word choice, formality level and fluency.
Business ($12.50/month/member)
- All Premium features, company style guide, centralized billing, team usage statistics, priority email support and user management tools.
Toggl
Time seems to fly by! Toggl is a great way to keep track of your time to track your own or your team members time and is also a great tool for invoicing. Toggl Track is one of the options that Toggl offers, which is centred around a timer that you can attach projects and clients. Another great feature is the ability for users to add up to five other users for free!
If five users aren’t enough, businesses have the option to update their plan to add more members. Additionally, Toggl has also recently introduced an update that provides two new options, Toggl Plan and Toggl Hire to assist business functions.
ClickUp
Keeping track of all your tasks, especially when working in teams can be difficult and leaves room for errors. The team at Bloom Digital uses the project management software tool, ClickUp, to organise and assign tasks. The program allows us to create separate spaces for each of our clients where we can assign tasks to team members. Users can mark tasks as “in progress”, “pending review” or “completed”. We also love the Chrome extension of ClickUp that allows us to create a task from emails to save time and improve productivity.
The program offers a free version that allows 100MB of storage, unlimited tasks, unlimited members and two-factor authentication. The paid version is $AU6.33 per month per member (charged annually) and includes unlimited storage, guests access and opportunity for customisation.
Scanbot
There have been times where quickly snapping a photo of a document is not sufficient enough. This can be inconvenient when you do not have access to a scanner to upload a document quickly, safely or efficiently. However, businesses must be mindful of customer security in regards to documents such as Identification, sensitive documents and medical certifications. Therefore, I would recommend using the Scanbot app that has been built for business with performance and privacy in mind.
