The Challenge

Our primary goal for Perth Premier Painting was to achieve the #1 ranking position for the highly competitive keyword ‘Perth painters’/’painters Perth’.

With over 4,400 average searches locally per month, gaining this position could be a game-changer for this little business.

Additionally, with changes to search engine algorithms and best practices, we aimed to solve long-term keyword volatility through keyword cannibalisation fixes.

Adjusting our strategy to suit was key to our success.

Our Method

We identified some instances of keyword cannibalisation relating to three main keywords:

Painters Perth
House painters Perth
Residential painters Perth

To work through this, we created a keyword map and identified where keyword cannibalisation may be taking place.

From here, we created a mind map laying out which pages should be left unchanged, which pages should be updated, and which pages should be removed to fix keyword cannibalisation.

Working on one page at a time and monitoring the results as we went, we updated, improved, and removed content as needed.

We also improved the layout and design of the pages to provide a better UX. This involved making the page more visually appealing and easier to navigate.

The Results

On August 30, 2024, Perth Premier Painting successfully moved to position #1 for ‘painters Perth’ / ‘Perth painters’ and has maintained this top spot with only occasional minor dips of 1-2 positions!

This has assisted Steve and Linda in expanding their business, with the security of being booked out months in advance!
